Talented Getaway Mare Beats The Boys On Hurdle Debut
Getaweapon (5m Getaway - Milan Serenade, by Milan) produced a smart performance to win Tuesday’s Pertemps Network Novices Hurdle qualifier at Hereford.
The Kim Bailey-trained mare made a winning debut in a point-to-point last year and returned from a long lay-off to finish second in a bumper last month. Sent off favourite on her first start over hurdles, she was ridden to lead by David Bass and though briefly headed at the third last, kept on well to win by two and three quarter lengths from Millbank Flyer (Milan).
Owned by J Perriss, Getaweapon was bred by Mervyn Kidd out of an unraced sister to dual Grade 2 winner Supreme Prince and Grade 3 winning hurdler Supreme Serenade.
