Talented Mare Leads Home Getaway 1-2 In Listed Hurdle
Sunday saw Lunar Display (5m Getaway - Lunar Beauty, by Milan) gain a deserved black-type success in the Listed Boreen Belle Mares Novice Hurdle at Thurles.
Joseph O’Brien’s representative boasted the highest rating of the field, her four previous black-type placings including a Grade 3 second against geldings. Chasing the leaders for much of the two mile contest, she was pushed along to take second approaching the final flight and was shaken up on the run-in. Running on well, she beat The Getaway Star (Getaway) by a length and a quarter on the line.
Speaking after the race, winning rider JJ Slevin commented, “Lunar Display jumped well the whole way and it was a strongly-run two miles. We're learning about her all the time and she won easily today. Joseph does a great job with these mares.”
Bred by Whisperview Trading, Lunar Display runs in the colours of the Annus Mirabilis Syndicate.
