Talented Maxios Filly Plays Starring Role At Arqana
The progressive race filly Euclidia (Maxios) will now face a new career as a broodmare after selling to agent Gerard Larrieu for €525,000 at the Arqana December Sale.
Larrieu later revealed he had bought the Stakes winner on behalf of owner Jean-Louis Bouchard, explaining, “He doesn’t want to have many mares, just eight or ten maximum, and he wants to improve the quality of his broodmare band. This is a lovely Wertheimer family and they cover their mares with top sires.”
Unraced at two, the Wertheimer & Frere homebred won her debut in impressive fashion in March and went on to gain black-type in June, before taking Listed Prix Panacee by three and a half lengths.
The daughter of Castlehyde Stud recruit Maxios also boasts a fine pedigree, as a half-sister to three black-type performers, including Group 1 Prix Marcel Boussac runner-up Matematica (Rock Of Gibraltar). Out of the winning Galileo mare Mathematicienne, she hails from the family of Solemia, Silasol and The Gurkha.
