Talented Son Of Mahler Impresses On Rules Debut
Impressive point-to-point winner Sun Rising Hill (4g Mahler - Mini Karinga, by Karinga Bay) made a winning start to his career under rules when taking Saturday’s bumper at Market Rasen.
A ten length winner on debut at Buckfastleigh in March, the John Edwards-bred bay was subsequently purchased privately by owner Ben Brackenbury and trainer Alex Hales. Brackenbury took the ride on Saturday and positioned his mount in midfield, improving to track the leaders from halfway. Pushed along from two furlongs out, Sun Rising Hill led entering the final furlong and kept on well to beat the favourite Here Comes Johnny (Yeats) by four lengths and three quarters.
Having won with his ears pricked, one would expect there is more to come from the son of Mahler, who is a half-brother to useful hurdler Dromore Lad (Flemensfirth).
