Talented Son Of Maxios Returns With A Win
Dual Grade 1 winner Quilixios (6g Maxios - Quilita, by Lomitas) rallied gamely to make a winning chase debut at Limerick on Sunday.
Henry de Bromhead’s charge was sent off favourite to overcome an 18 month absence in the Beginners Chase over two miles and three furlongs. Chasing the leader under Rachael Blackmore, he improved to dispute from four out and was ridden to lead at the final fence. He was soon headed by talented rival Cool Survivor (Westerner), but battled back on the run in to lead by a neck on the line.
“It is great to get him back,” Blackmore said after the race. “He is beautiful. He feels like a very good horse - which we know he is.”
Quilixios was purchased privately following an impressive win for Francois Nicolle and went on to win his first four starts for Cheveley Park Stud, including twice at Grade 1 level. He was bred by Gestut Fahrhof, who stood his sire Maxios before his transfer to Castlehyde Stud.
