The Getaway Star Returns To Limelight At Limerick
Graded performer The Getaway Star (6m Getaway - Tucacas, by Highest Honor) ran out a deserving winner of Thursday’s first division on the Pallaskenry Mares Maiden Hurdle at Limerick.
Successful in two bumpers, the Declan Queally-trained mare had been placed at Listed and Grade 3 level over hurdles and was sent off favourite for the two mile and three furlong contest. Reunited with Queally’s son of the same name, the grey made all the running and began to draw clear from the second last, going on to win by six and a half lengths.
Speaking after the race, Queally junior said, “Her form was very good. She ran well behind Skyace (Westerner) and was second to Royal Kahala (Flemensfirth).”
Owned by Michael O’Callaghan, the daughter of Grange Stud resident Getaway was bred by John Harvey.
