Journey With Me (Mahler) Wins His Maiden Hurdle At Leopardstown

Unbeaten Son Of Mahler Heads Ballymore Betting

The unbeaten Journey With Me (5g Mahler - Kilbarry Demon, by Bob’s Return) now heads the market for the Ballymore Novices Hurdle after making an impressive hurdle debut at Leopardstown.

Purchased privately from Michael Murphy after winning a four-year-old maiden at Ballindenisk by 12 lengths, the son of Mahler bolted up by 13 lengths on his first start for Henry de Bromhead in a Gowran Park bumper. Sent off second favourite to Kilcruit in Wednesday’s maiden hurdle, he made most of the running under Rachael Blackmore and was shaken up after the two furlong marker. Running on well inside the final furlong, he scored by three and a half lengths.

De Bromhead, who trains the winner for Brian Acheson’s Robcour, said after the race, “I'm delighted with him, he's a lovely horse. He obviously won his bumper well, and his point-to-point, and he did it really well.”

Bred by Con O’Keeffe, Journey With Me’s success bodes well for his three-year-old half-sister by Walk In The Park, who sold for €90,000 earlier this year.
