Journey With Me (Mahler) Wins The Bumper At Gowran Park

Unbeaten Son Of Mahler Makes Impressive Rules Debut

Journey With Me (5g Mahler - Kilbarry Demon, by Bob’s Return) could hardly have been more impressive when making a winning rules debut in Friday’s bumper at Gowran Park.

The son of Mahler was purchased privately by Brian Acheson’s Robcour after winning a four-year-old maiden by 12 lengths for Michael Murphy and was sent off favourite on his first start for Henry De Bromhead. The chesnut made most of the running in the two mile and two furlong contest and though Patrick Mullins glanced over his shoulder in the straight, none of his rivals could land a blow as he registered a winning margin of 13 lengths.

The happy winning trainer later commented, “Journey With Me was good, he's a real galloper. We were fortunate enough to be able to buy him after he won his point-to-point and you would have to be delighted with that.”

Bred by Con O’Keeffe of Kilbarry Lodge Stud, Journey With Me is a half-brother to three winners, most notably talented chaser Yorkist.
