Unbeaten Son Of Maxios Cruises Clear

Altobelli (5g Maxios - Atiana, by Samum) extended his unbeaten record with an impressively easy win in Monday’s Novices’ Hurdle at Carlisle.

Harry Fry’s charge shaped like a useful prospect when winning a bumper on his sole start last season and made a successful return on his hurdle bow in December. Stepping up to two miles and three furlongs on Monday, he was sent off favourite under Bryan Carver, who rode the bay to make all. Clear with one circuit left to race, he boasted a sizeable advantage from three out and was eased down on the run-in to score by 25 lengths.

Speaking after the race, the winning trainer said, “We're delighted to see Altobelli progress from his first start over hurdles. He's a big horse who needs some cut in the ground.”

Owned by Charles Walker and Jonny Craib, the son of Castlehyde Stud sire Maxios was bred by Gestut Ittlingen out of a half-sister to Stakes performer Area (Maxios).
