Walk In The Park Dominates Maiden Hurdle
Western Walk (6g Walk In The Park - Western Approaches, by Westerner) gained a well-deserved win when leading home a 1-2-3 for Walk In The Park in Saturday’s maiden hurdle at Navan.
Previously placed in a pair of bumpers and on his first two starts over hurdles, Western Walk was well-supported on his seasonal return and first start for Jonathan Sweeney. Travelling strongly throughout the two mile and six furlong contest, he raced prominently under Michael O’Sullivan and joined the leaders three from home. Asserting at the final flight, he was pushed clear on the run-in and led by three lengths and three quarters on the line. £130,000 point-to-point buy Jimmy Chou Pecos AA (Walk In The Park) claimed runner-up honours, while Ebenezer Scrooge (Walk In The Park) took third.
Bred by Thistletown Stud, Western Walk is owned by Ruth Brown and John Loughlin. The son of Walk In The Park is a half-brother to Churchstonewarrior (Mahler), who won a Grade 2 chase for Jonathan Sweeney last month.
