Walk In The Park Kicks Off Point To Point Season With A Winner
Sous Les Rose (5m Walk In The Park - Blushing Rose, by Blushing Flame) provided Walk In The Park with a perfect start to the 2022/2023 Irish point-to-point season when taking the five-year-old mares’ maiden at Tinahely.
Well-supported to get off the mark on the opening weekend of the season, the Sean Doyle-trained grey was held up by Jamie Scallan and was asked to quicken from three out. Making headway into second at the penultimate fence, she led before the last and kept on well to win by six and a half lengths, with another thirteen lengths back to the third.
Sous Les Rose was bred by Shaun Talbot out of Blushing Flame, who has a four-year-old filly by Soldier Of Fortune.
Later that afternoon at Sedgefield, Spirit Of Regulus (4g Walk In The Park - La Segnora, by Turgeon) finished strongly to land the maiden hurdle over two miles and one furlong.
Fourth in a bumper on his sole previous start, Donald McCain’s charge was sent off second favourite on his seasonal return and was positioned in midfield by Brian Hughes. Pushed along with two flights left to jump, he took third at the last and ran on well to lead close home, going on to score by a length and three quarters.
Bought by his trainer for €64,000 as a store, Spirit Of Regulus is owned by Colin and Kay Taylor. The son of Walk In The Park was bred by Mrs Dale Adams and is a full-brother to point-to-point maiden winner El Muchacho (Walk In The Park).
