Walk In The Park Mares Off The Mark At Lingstown
Mayor’s Walk (4m Walk In The Park - Hell Cat Maggie, by Flemensfirth) kicked off a double for Walk In The Park at Lingstown when coming out on top in a thrilling finish to the Four-Year-Old Mares’ Maiden.
The Colin Bowe-trained newcomer was ridden to track the leaders by Barry O’Neill and improved to lead after the second last. Headed briefly at the final fence, she battled back to lead by three parts of a length on the line.
Mayor’s Walk was bred by Kieran Cotter, who races the daughter of Walk In The Park in partnership with S McCarthy.
Barry O’Neill was back in front in the finale, where he partnered Lady In The Park (5m Walk In The Park - Emily’s Flyer, by Oscar) to success on her second start.
The Tom Dreaper-trained bay was sent off joint-favourite for the maiden and raced towards the back of the field for much of the way. Making headway into second by the penultimate fence, she led approaching the last and kept on well on the run-in to win by half a length.
Lady In The Park may now be sold, according to Dreaper, who trains the winner for the Knockalough Syndicate. She becomes the first winner bred by John and Mary Hayes out of Emily’s Flyer (Oscar).
