Walk In The Park On Top Once Again At Tattersalls Ireland
Walk In The Park sired the top lot at the Tattersalls Ireland November NH Sale for the second day in a row, when Oliver Loughlin’s colt was knocked down to Joey Logan for €85,000.
After seeing off the attentions of several bidders, Logan said, “It is a lot of money for a foal but everyone knows how good a sire Walk In The Park is and hopefully he is very lucky for us.”
Oliver Loughlin bred the colt out of his homebred mare Posh Trish, who is back in foal to the Grange Stud sire. “This is her first foal,” Loughlin said. “He has been a lovely foal from day one, he came up here and did everything well. It is a great price for him.” Three lots later, the breeder sold another Walk In The Park colt to Alan Harte Bloodstock for €57,000.
Later in the session, Sabrina Harty went to €72,000 for a son of Walk In The Park offered by the Motherway family’s Yellowford Farm. After revealing her purchase had been made on behalf of a client for resale, Harty said, “He has everything you want; he is a good size, is lovely and correct, by a popular sire and from a great family.” The prized colt is out of Grade 1 performer Lackaneen Leader (Oscar), whose colt by Crystal Ocean sold to Ian Ferguson for €42,000 last year.
Ballykineally Stables later enjoyed a perfect start with their mare Whoopsey, when her Walk In The Park colt brought €76,000 from Brendan Bashford. John Barry, who runs the family operation with brothers Tom and Mossy, later commented, “We are over the moon with this result and the mare is back in foal to Walk In The Park.”
