Maximum Security’s Secured Scores First Win
The Bret Calhoun trained Secured (2f Maximum Security x Crafty Lady, by Carpe Diem) was the latest winner for Maximum Security on Wednesday with a Maiden Special Weight victory.
Running at Remington Park in a six-furlong dirt race, Secured was the pacesetter with Jose Alvarez making sure she didn’t push herself too much in the early stages. Challenged briefly just over halfway through the race, she again stepped up to increase her margin back to a length.
Asked in the stretch, Secured made a long drive to win by a length at the line.
Secured races for Barry and Carol Conrad and was bred by Beau Lane III in Kentucky. She is the first foal out of a three-quarter sister to Grade I winner Giant Oak, stakes winners Apple Martini and Oak Brook and stakes placed runners Cause She’s Crafty and A Step Ahead.
That group is out of Grade III winner Crafty Oak, whose 13 winners includes seven stakes performers overall.
It was the third big performance this week at Remington Park by a runner sired by a Coolmore stallion. Munnings sired stakes winner Jaxon Traveler and freshman stallion Echo Town’s Three Echoes registered his fourth stakes placing in four stakes starts in the Kip Deville Stakes.
Secured is the seventh winner for Maximum Security, whose runners are led by the multiple stakes placed Rosa Salvaje.
