Wonleg (Order of St George) Wins The Maiden Hurdle At Roscommon

Order Of St George Gelding Makes Winning Rules Debut

The Henry de Bromhead-trained Wonleg (4g Order Of St George – Brooklynn, by King’s Theatre) made a perfect start under rules in Monday’s maiden hurdle at Roscommon.

The bay tracked a pair of clear leaders under Darragh O’Keeffe and began to make headway from three out. Pushed along to lead before the final flight, he was ridden to assert on the run-in and went on to win by a length and three quarters.

Representing the winning trainer, Robbie Power said: “We're delighted with that. He had done a few nice bits of work at home. Darragh got into a lovely rhythm on him and he jumped really well.”

Owned by the Herding Cats Partnership, Wonleg becomes the first winner bred by Jonathan Deacon out of Brooklynn. He hails from the exciting first crop of Castlehyde Stud sire Order Of St George.
