$150,000 Colt For Practical Joke At Keeneland
Practical Joke’s success at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale continued during the eighth session when Hip 2451 sold for $150,000.
Bred by Machmer Hall, Carrie Brogden and Craig Brogden and consigned by Blandford Stud, the colt purchased by Bruno DeBerdt is the first foal out of a half-sister to Grade III winner Strict Compliance and stakes winner Tiree. By Into Mischief, Strict Compliance herself is closely related to this colt. Other members of the family include dual Grade I winner General Quarters, and Grade II winners Unitarian and A Shin Top.
A Triple Grade I winner, Practical Joke’s first yearlings have been extremely well received at this Fall’s yearling sales, selling for up to $575,000 and averaging $149,380.
At Keeneland September alone, they have averaged $134,795 for 44 sold with a median of $107,500 – over $35,000 more than Keeneland’s overall median at this September’s Sale.
