$150,000 Filly Leads Practical Joke Weanlings at Keeneland
Practical Joke saw his second crop get off just as good a start as his first on Wednesday when a filly out of Competition sold for $150,000 during the third session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.
Purchased by Clear Creek Farm from Paramount Sales as agent for the Estate of Gerry Dilger, the filly is a half-sister to six winners. Those six included the Grade III-placed Desert Dynamo and Ambusher and stakes-placed Afleet Accompli, Bartolome, and That’s a Lady.
The filly’s dam is a daughter of stakes-placed Competent Sort and a half-sister to both stakes-placed That’s a Good Thing and the dam of Grade I winner Sailor’s Valentine. Competition’s granddam is multiple Grade I winner Coup De Fusil.
It was a good session for Practical Joke with his second of two sold bringing $145,000.
Bought by Thomas J. Ruane from breeder Clarkland Farm, the colt is out of the multiple stakes winner Tiz Imaginary with those under his second dam including champions Flanders, Surfside, and Air Force Blue, among others.
A triple Grade I winner, Practical Joke’s first two crops have been well received with his first yearlings this year averaging $120,243 led by a $575,000 colt.
