$170,000 Filly Leads Way For Practical Joke
The seventh session of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale saw another successful day for Practical Joke's yearlings, led by a $170,000 filly consigned by Scott Mallory.
The first foal out of Tuvalu was purchased by John C. Oxley for the fifth highest price of the day. The filly is a granddaughter of multiple stakes winner Half Heaven, who is also the dam of stakes-placed Highestmaintenance with the family also including Grade II winner Sweet Vendetta. In all, there are nine stakes horses on the Foxpointe Thoroughbreds-bred’s page.
She was joined by the seventh highest priced offering, a filly out of Grade III winner Jenny’s So Great for $165,000. Consigned by breeder Woods Edge Farm and sold to Julie Davies, she is a half-sister to five other foals out of Jenny’s So Great, who is a half-sister to the dam of stakes winner Super Jen. The family also includes Grade I winner Supah Gem and champion Last Chance Lady among 14 blacktype performers named on the filly’s page.
In all, Practical Joke had five yearlings sell for $100,000 or more during the session with his 10 yearlings averaging $89,000 with a median of $90,000, more than $40,000 higher than both the median and the average for the session.
