2YO Off Pitch Newest Stakes Winner for Mo Town
Mo Town juvenile Off Pitch (2f Mo Town x Music Teacher, by Commissioner) added a stakes victory to her record with a win in the Miss Indiana Stakes.
Making her fourth career start in the dirt race run just over a mile, she was one of the more prominent runners when settling a few lengths behind the leader in third. Tracking the top two for the first half of the race, she made her move on the far turn.
It was a battle to take over the lead, but she cleared the others in the stretch and was kept to task by jockey Alex Achard to make sure she stayed in front. She did as asked to win by a length to take her record to two wins in four starts this year.
Trained by Stephen Lyster for Storyteller Racing, September Farm, Michael Motley, and Francisco Iainez, the filly has proven to be a strong competitor with three top three finishes in four starts.
The Deann and Greg Baer-bred is the first foal out of Music Teacher, who is a half-sister to six winners out of Encore, whose best is the multiple stakes placed Best Macho. Encore is a full sister to the stakes winning Great War Eagle, with the pair out of Grade I winner Cash Run. That mare is also the granddam of Uncle Mo’s Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Donna Veloce.
This is the sixth stakes winner and 14th stakes performer of the year for third crop sire Mo Town, tying him for fifth by stakes winners and stakes performers with the likes of Good Magic and City of Light.
