$310,000 Filly Leads Echo Town Offerings
More juveniles from the first crop of Grade I winner Echo Town were snapped up at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale this week with his four sold averaging $126,750.
The most expensive of the group was a $310,000 filly purchased by Flurry Racing Stables from Paul Sharp.
She is a half-sister to the Grade III-placed Glacial with another one of her siblings producing Mendelssohn’s multiple stakes winning Opus Forty Two. That duo is two of the five winners out of Country Cafe, who is a full sister to Grade III winner Heart Ashley.
Just like her sister, Heart Ashley went on to become a successful broodmare as the dam of multiple Grade III winner Fiano Romano and Grade III-placed Ameristralla. That mare also produced Grade II winner Ain’t Easy.
Country Cafe’s other half-siblings include Grade I winner Cupid, Grade III winner Ashley’s Kitty, and stakes winner Indianapolis, in addition to the granddam of multiple graded stakes winner Kathleen O.
Willis Horton Racing secured another Echo Town juvenile for $140,000 when Thorostock sent the colt out of Queen of Aces through the ring.
This is the first foal out of Street Boss mare Queen of Aces, who is a half-sister to the stakes placed duo of Coexistence and King Cyrus. Each of the three dams with racing age foals on the page have produced stakes performers or the dams of stakes performers.
Grade I-winning fourth dam Dispute is the matriarch of a top family with those under her name including Grade I winners Gear Up and Nanda Dea among 16 stakes winners and nine other stakes performers.
Echo Town’s first juveniles are selling for $310,000, $140,000, $130,000, etc. while his 13 sold this year have averaged nearly 16 times his 2024 stud fee.
