$320,000 Colt Leads Way For American Pharoah in Fifth Session
MyRacehorse.com went to $320,000 to take home an American Pharoah colt from the Dixiana Farms consignment on Saturday to lead the Triple Crown winner’s fifth session offerings.
The colt is out of Momentary Magic, who was a winner on the track and has a connection to another Coolmore America stallion as a half-sister to Grade III-placed Stage Magic. Stage Magic, of course, is the dam of our other Triple Crown winner in Justify. Stage Magic also produced Grade III winner The Lieutenant.
This colt’s second dam is the Grade I-placed Magical Illusion, who is one of five stakes performers for Grade III winner Voodoo Lily. Voodoo Lily’s daughters have produced Grade II winners Spellbound and Soothsay in addition to Grade III winner Kid Cruz, etc.
Three Amigos Racing purchased an American Pharoah colt out of Tale of the Cat mare Koodori Dawn from Hartwell Farm on Saturday for $300,000.
The dam of one winner from one to race, Koodori Dawn is a half-sister to Grade I winner Dance to Bristol with their dam a half-sister to Grade I winner Chief Honcho and the dam of Group I winner Poet’s Voice among others.
The sire of the most expensive filly of the sale, a filly out of Letgomyecho, who also topped the first session among all yearlings at $1.4 million, American Pharoah’s other yearlings have brought $700,000, $350,000, $335,000, etc.
