$500,000 Colt Leads Pharoah Offerings in Book 2

A $500,000 colt led the way for American Pharoah during the second book of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale when Winchell Thoroughbreds won the bidding war on the Ballysax Bloodstock offering.

Bred by the Coolmore partners, the colt is out of the Grade III winning Galileo daughter Flattering. That mare is a full sister to five-time Group I winner Love and Group III winner Peach Tree and a half-sister to Group II winner Lucky Kristale.

Lucky Kristale is also the dam of the stakes placed Bravais, who added even more blacktype to the page after the catalog was released, led by a third in the Group II Prix Niel.

The American Pharoah x Galileo cross has been a successful one with two graded stakes winners and six stakes performers led by Group I winner Above The Curve.

A colt out of Holiday Blues was purchased by Pin Oak Stud late in Book 2 from the Paramount Sales consignment.

Already named Ever Given and bred by Four Pillars Holdings, the colt was a $160,000 Keeneland November purchase by Big Bear Bloodstock last year before making his return to the ring here. His dam was a three-time winner who has produced two winners from two to race herself. She is also a half-sister to multiple stakes winner and Grade I placed Wine Police and stakes placed Moon Traveler out of the stakes winning Deputy Cures Blues.

There are stakes winners under two of the three dams on this page with Deputy Cures Blues also joined by stakes winners Nyuk Nyuk Nyuk and Bucephalus as those produced by the colt’s third dam to visit the stakes winner’s circle. Another of her runners was also a stakes performer as well.

American Pharoah’s four winners out of Ghostzapper mares include the stakes winning Fi Fi Pharoah with eight runners overall.

American Pharoah’s 24 sold so far at this sale have averaged $280,417 with a $265,000 median. That group is led by a $650,000 colt sold during Book 1.
