$575,000 Colt For Practical Joke at Keeneland September

West Bloodstock struck late in the third session for a $575,000 Practical Joke colt on Wednesday to kick off the three-time Grade I winner’s Keeneland September Sale.

Buying the colt from Rosilyn Polan’s Sunday Morning Farm, West signed on behalf of Repole Stables and St Elias Stables for the half-brother to Munnings’ Grade III winner Barkley and two other winners from four to race out of Numero d'Oro.

Polan also bred this grandson of multiple stakes winner and multiple Grade II-placed Numero Uno. That mare is also the dam of stakes placed Ice Lady and the granddam of Grade II winner Ivy Bell and stakes placers Nowalking and Mannford.

Into Mischief himself when bred to Medaglia d’Oro mares has produced three winners from five to race, including stakes winner and Grade III-placed Into Mystic.

Practical Joke has already been a popular stallion at this year’s yearling sales with his 15 sold averaging $186,000, led by this $575,000 colt and a $320,000 filly.
