$700,000 Filly for American Pharoah At Fasig-Tipton Saratoga

American Pharoah struck late in Saratoga when a full sister to his Grade II Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint winner Four Wheel Drive was the third most expensive filly of the first Fasig-Tipton Saratoga session.

Selling for $700,000 to Red Bud LLC from Paramount Sales, the filly bred by Glenvale Stud is also a half-sister to Saturday’s Listed Kentucky Downs TVG Preview Turf Sprint Stakes winner Born Great. The trio are out of stakes winner Funfair, who has three winners from three to race.

This filly’s family also includes Grade I winner Furthest Land, Grade III winner Dynever, and Lookin At Lucky’s stakes winner and Grade III-placed Luck Money among others.

Funfair had a Justify colt this year before returning to American Pharoah.

American Pharoah’s only other Monday offering was a $300,000 purchase by MV Magnier from Ballysax Bloodstock as agent for HNR Nothhaft Horse Racing.

The May-born colt out of Randie’s Legend is a half-brother to multiple graded stakes winner and Grade I-placed Daddy Is a Legend from his dam’s two winners. Unraced herself, Randie’s Legend is a half-sister to Grade II winner Frumious and stakes winner Eternal Rule.

A great-grandson of three-time champion Eternal Search, the colt also sees champion Arts in the Park, Grade II winner Smokey Fire and Grade III winner Volcat among the stakes winners on the page.

Randie’s Legend visited another Triple Crown winner in Justify this season.

It has been a big week for American Pharoah in Saratoga with the Triple Crown winner and Horse of the Year inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday.
