$700,000 Filly For Munnings in Book 2
A $700,000 filly led the way for Munnings during Book 2 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale this week when West Bloodstock purchased her on behalf of Robert and Lawana Low.
The filly earned a huge update only days before the sale when her three-quarter brother Prince of Monaco won the Grade I Del Mar Futurity. The colt also won the Grade III Best Pal Stakes earlier in the summer with their dam’s only other runner also placed.
Offered by Taylor Made Sales on behalf of the Stonestreet breeding program, the filly’s dam Rainier is a half-sister to multiple stakes winners Laurie’s Rocket and Greeley’s Rocket alongside the fam of multiple stakes winning Necker Island. Class runs throughout the family with her stakes-placed second dam Clay’s Rocket a half-sister to Grade I winner Adieu.
The second most expensive of the book for Munnings was a $450,000 filly purchased by Alex and JoAnn Lieblong.
Consigned by Eaton Sales and bred by Pippa’s Hurricane, the filly is the first foal out of a half-sister to the Group I winner Apollo Kentucky. That colt is one of three winners from five to race out of Dixiana Delight, who also produced the stakes placed Beau Ravelle.
Dixiana Delight is out of the stakes winner and multiple Grade II-placed Lake Lady, whose dam is the multiple stakes winning Slinky Lady.
Led by a pair of $700,000 offerings this week, Munnings’ 29 sold at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale have averaged $287,414 with a median of $275,000.
