$700,000 Filly For Practical Joke at OBS Spring
A $700,000 filly led the Practical Joke offerings at this week’s OBS Spring 2-Year-Olds In Training Sale when purchased by 30 Year Farm.
Consigned by Niall Brennan Stables during the final day of the sale, the colt is a half-brother to four winners from four to race out of Pulpit mare Choir. Out of the stakes winner and Grade III-placed Emmy Darling, Choir is a half-sister to the stakes placed Gin Riki as well.
Bred by Jack Swain, three of the four dams on the filly’s page have produced stakes performers with the stakes placed Dance Delight producing Emmy Darling and the stakes placed Malandrina. Three of her daughters have also produced stakes performers with two producing stakes winners.
Fergus Galvin was the buyer of a $400,000 Practical Joke filly consigned by Eddie Woods after the filly breezed in :9.4.
Sold during the second session, she is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Sydney Freeman and four other winners from six to race out of Grade III winner Peach Brew. Peach Brew is one of two stakes winners out of the winning Hickory Ridge mare Georgia OK. Her five winners are led by Grade III winner She’s All In, whose three winners include multiple stakes winner She’s All Wolfe.
Bred by Buck Pond Farm and Rob Auerbach, she was also a $240,000 yearling purchase at last year’s Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
Practical Joke saw nine of his 10 juveniles sell for six figures with his other 2-year-olds at the sale bringing $275,000, $270,000, $240,000, etc.
