Agility Wins Aqueduct Maiden Special Weight
Agility (2c Practical Joke x Singing Doe, by Running Stag) added another winner to Practical Joke’s total on Sunday when he won a Maiden Special Weight by a length at Aqueduct.
Owned by Parkland Thoroughbreds, the colt raced a length behind the pacesetter for the first half of the 6 ½ furlong race. As the running got serious, Agility wasn’t willing to be behind anyone and took command before the field entered the final quarter to have the upper hand.
He showed just a touch of greenness in the stretch with Manny Franco keeping him focused and won as the heavy favorite by a length.
The colt is trained by Jorge Abreu and was bred by Hidden Lake Farm, 3Cs Thoroughbreds, and West Point Thoroughbreds out of successful broodmare Singing Doe. That mare has produced three other winners, led by multiple stakes winner Pain and Misery and is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Awesome I Am.
Practical Joke is now the sire of 22 winners from his first crop in three different countries with his four stakes winners and five stakes horses led by the Grade III winner and Grade I-placed Wit. Practical Joke has also had three other horses place fourth in stakes races.
