American Pharoah Colt Brings $315,000 at Fasig-Tipton October Yearling Sale
A day after siring two new winners, American Pharoah hit another home run on Monday when his son out of stakes placed Counterparty brought $315,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale. Bought by Pick View LLC, he became the most expensive yearling by a Freshman sire at this year's sale only 24 hours after American Pharoah's double saw him take his winner total to 18.
Selling as Hip 278, the colt ended the first session as the fourth most expensive offering overall during the first day of the sale when consigned by breeder Candy Meadows Sales.
A three-time winner, Counterparty is a daughter of three-time stakes winner Passionate Bird and from the family of stakes winning Lotta Lovin and Warning Zone.
American Pharoah leads all Freshman sires on the track with 18 winners this year, including four stakes winners and an additional five stakes placed horses led by Grade II winner Sweet Melania.
