American Pharoah Son Scores Third Stakes Win of Year
For the third time this season, American Pharoah’s Forever Souper (5g American Pharoah x Mighty Souper, by War Front) visited a stakes winner circle with a victory in the Prince George’s County Stakes.
The Live Oak Plantation-bred was first out of the gate in the 1 1/8-mile turf race and never gave the others a chance to truly challenge. Setting the pace just off the rail, he kept a few lengths between himself and Gleneagles’ Highand Chief in second. When jockey Mychel Sanchez asked Forever Souper to extend his lead, he did so easily to win by 4 ¾ lengths in the end.
Trained by Michael Trombetta, Forever Souper has won seven of his 16 starts, including three of the five stakes he’s contested – with his two stakes losses being third place finishes.
Forever Souper is one of two winners from two to race out of the stakes placed Mighty Souper. That mare is out of a half-sister to the stakes winning Harmony Hall from the family of Grade I winners Lakeway and Mushka.
Forever Souper is one of seven stakes winners and 14 stakes performers in 2024 for American Pharoah, seven among all North American sires by stakes winners.
