American Pharoah’s Forever Souper Win Sunshine Turf
Forever Souper (5g American Pharoah x Mighty Souper, by War Front) made his stakes debut a winning one on Sunday with a victory in the 1 1/16-mile Sunshine Turf Stakes.
The Live Oak Plantation homebred was happy to take advantage of breaking from the two-hole and stayed on the rail in a perfect spot to pounce when the time was right. That time came around the turn when Paco Lopez started angling him to the outside, ensuring he had running room in the stretch.
Running down the leader, Forever Souper wrangled command of the race inside the final sixteenth and pulled away to win by a length to give Live Oak and trainer Michael Trombetta the exacta.
It was the fifth win in 12 starts for the American Pharoah son, who pushed his earnings to $212,255 with the win.
Forever Souper is out of the stakes-placed Mighty Souper, whose two runners are winners. This is also the family of Grade I winners Lakeway and Mushka as well.
American Pharoah is the sire of 14 winners in 2024, putting him fifth among all North American sires so far this year.
