Big Day For Practical Joke at Keeneland November
Practical Joke found plenty of success during Friday’s session of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale with the second and fourth most expensive weanlings of the day.
Led by an Eaton Sales-offered colt sold for $185,000, that Forging Oaks-bred was purchased by Fish Stables. Out of Miss Utada, the colt is a half-brother to six winners including the multiple graded stakes winner Secret Gypsy.
His other siblings include the stakes-placed Little Emma, who is also the dam of stakes winning Midnight Emma with multiple siblings adding updates to the page since the catalog was released.
Major Practical Joke supporter OXO Equine added another future runner by the stallion to their stable with a $150,000 filly out of Miss Prytania. Consigned by Brookdale Sales as agent for J.R. Ward Stables, the filly joins three Practical Joke yearlings OXO publicly purchased from the stallion’s first crop.
The filly is out of a half-sister to Grade III winner and multiple Grade I-placed Medal Count and the Grade III-winning Garden District. Garden District is also the dam of stakes placed Heartspoke and granddam of Grade II-placed Speed Pass.
A granddaughter of Grade III-placed Brisquette, the filly’s Grade I-placed third dam is also the dam of three stakes horses.
Triple Grade I winner Practical Joke has seen 13 of 17 weanlings sold this week after 74 of his yearlings sold only months ago for an average of $120,243, led by a $575,000 colt.
