Dazzling Saratoga Success for American Pharoah
After achieving stunning success on the first day of the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Selected Yearling Sale with two million dollar youngsters, American Pharoah was back in business again with a stunning filly from stakes-winner Funny Feeling selling for $875,000 on the second and final day of trade.
Consigned by Lane’s End as agent, she was bought by John Oxley and is from the family of Grade I winners Pussycat Doll, Jimmy Creed and Hookedonthefeelin.
She was bred by Jane Lyon of Summer Wind Farm, who purchased American Pharoah’s dam Littleprincessemma for $2.1 million at the 2014 Fasig-Tipton November Sale just seven months before he won the Triple Crown.
“We are very big fans of American Pharoah,” said Lyon.
“We also love the mare Funny Feeling and her family, so we are very happy. We hope that whomever has purchased her will have all the success in the world.”
Mark Casse bought the filly on behalf of John Oxley and was thrilled with the purchase.
“Mr. Oxley bought her. We just loved her. More importantly, Mr. and Mrs. Oxley loved her. I loved her pedigree, it was an outstanding pedigree. American Pharoahs are unbelievable. We are happy to get her. We’ve been waiting on this one for a while,” Casse said.
American Pharoah had 10 yearlings sell at this sale at an average $554,500.
