Echo Town Filly Stays Undefeated in Myrtlewood
Echo Sound (2f Echo Town x Eagle Sound, by Fusaichi Pegasus) stayed undefeated and added a stakes win to her record on Friday with a win in the Myrtlewood Stakes.
The filly jumped out of the gate quickly and was among the early leaders before dropping to third in the six-furlong dirt race. Running a few lengths behind the leader in around the turn, she switched to the outside to make a run into the stretch. Still showing some greenness, she was kept focused by Irad Ortiz Jr until she reached the leader.
Ortiz waved the whip at her in the final furlong, but didn’t touch her and she extended to win by 2 ½ lengths at the line.
“She’s a very nice filly,” said Ortiz. “She’s undefeated. She does everything right and was ready to run.”
Trained by Rusty Arnold for Gabriel Duignan, the filly was bred by Springhouse Farm, Vision Thoroughbreds, and Bruce and Patricia Pieratt.
“It was a step up in company, and she’s answered every question. Hopefully she’ll move forward into graded stakes,” said Arnold of future plans for Echo Sound.
Echo Sound is the third stakes performer and second stakes winner out of Eagle Sound with the mare producing nine winners from 11 runners overall. This page also includes Grade I winner Competitive Edge and Grade II winner Wild Syn.
Echo Town has sired two stakes winners in the past week with Elegant Echo winning the Oklahoma Classics Lassie Stakes last Friday.
