Fancy Joke Another Impressive Juvenile for Practical Joke
It was another impressive juvenile winner for Practical Joke on Friday when Fancy Joke (2f Practical Joke x Anjorie, by A.P. Jet) romped to a 6 ¼ length victory in a Monmouth Park Maiden Special Weight.
Trained by Claudio Gonzalez for Lugamo Racing Stable, the filly showed more than enough speed out the gate to take the lead in the five-furlong dirt race and wasn’t seriously challenged. Keeping a length between herself and the rest of the field for much of the early running, when Jomar Torres asked her for more, she found another burst of speed.
Torres didn’t have to do to much on his mount down the stretch and geared her down close to the wire as she proved to be much the best with 6 ¼ lengths on the field.
Bred in New York by Sugar Maple Farm, Fancy Joke is a half-sister to the stakes winning Fierce Lady and stakes-placed Bluegrass Jamboree among four winners from five others to race out of the stakes-placed Anjorie.
Anjorie herself is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winning Scat Daddy runner Swag Daddy and Tale of the Cat’s Grade III-placed What a Tale.
Anjorie also has a yearling full brother to Fancy Joke on the ground as well.
This is the second impressive juvenile for Practical Joke in less than a week after Song Parody won by 5 ½ lengths in a Belmont Park Maiden Special Weight last Saturday.
