Fasig-Tipton July Another Home Run for Practical Joke

Outstanding sales results for Practical Joke’s first crop carried over to his second crop on Tuesday when his eight through the ring at the Fasig-Tipton July Sale averaged $162,750.

The group was led by the $240,000 filly purchased by Scott and Evan Dilworth LLC from Four Star Sales. Consigned on behalf of breeder D.C. Goff, the filly is a half-sister to multiple stakes winner Forwarned, who took his earnings to $569,633 after the catalog was released.

Forewarned is one of two winners from three to race out of stakes winner Fortune Play, who is out of multiple stakes-placed Love Play. Stakes winners Global Stage and Casino Prince are under this offering’s third and fourth dams.

Selling for $230,000 to Tom McGreevy as agent for Breeze Easy was Practical Joke’s filly out of Midnight Magic. Consigned by Baccari Bloodstock and bred by Dr. Carolin Von Rosenberg DVM, she is out of a half-sister to Grade III winner Coalport and stakes winner Jolly Good Kitten.

The filly’s young dam has only two foals of racing age with her first already a winner. This is also the family of Grade I winner Favorite Funtime and stakes winner Man of Eldorado among others.

Practical Joke’s most expensive colt was a $200,000 purchase by Aunt Polly Bloodstock.

The Eaton Sales-offered colt out of the winning mare Iridium was bred by Stonewall Dominion Farm and is the second foal out of his dam. Iridium is a half-sister to Grade I-placed Magna Light and stakes-placed Unbridled Graduate and descends from the great broodmare Lassie Dear.

Practical Joke’s other offerings at the sale brought $180,000, $165,000, $150,000, etc. for a median of $172,500 with his top two sellers the ninth and tenth most expensive of the sale overall.
