Feeling Funny Romps in Woodbine Maiden

It was yet another impressive winner for American Pharoah on Saturday at Woodbine when Feeling Funny (3f American Pharoah x Funny Feeling, by Distorted Humor) romped home in a Maiden Special Weight.

Going straight to the lead in the six furlong turf race, Feeling Funny felt pressure from just one horse for the early part of the race with the rest of the field over five lengths behind the duo. By midturn, Feeling Funny had put that one away as well to enter the stretch four lengths in front and just building her lead from there.

When she hit the line, she was five lengths ahead for Mark Casse and Debby Oxley.

Bred by Summer Wind Equine, Feeling Funny was a $875,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale graduate from the Lane’s End consignment with John Oxley signing the ticket.

A half-sister to Grade III-placed Gato del Oro, Feeling Funny is out of stakes winning Funny Feeling. A third generation stakes winner, Funny Feeling is a daughter of Grade I winner Hookedonthefeelin’ and a half-sister to Grade I winners Pussycat Doll and Jimmy Creed with Pussycat Doll producing Giant’s Causeway’s Grade I winner Aquaphobia.

The leading second crop sire in multiple categories, American Pharoah has transferred his Triple Crown-winning talent on the track to the breeding shed as last year’s Champion Freshman Sire with his seven graded stakes winners and 10 stakes winners leading 21 stakes horses overall.
