G3 Winning Practical Joke Filly Stays Undefeated in Chile
It was a second straight group win for Practical Joke’s Guairaba (2f Practical Joke x Gazania, by Lookin At Lucky) on Friday when the filly won the Group III Clasico Julio Subercaseaux Brown going one mile.
Guairaba was among the fastest out of the gate in the turf race but was quickly taken back to race near the back in the spread out field. It wasn’t until the field rolled into the stretch that she started for the lead and in only a matter of seconds was even with the leader.
It took until they were at the wire for the filly to get the lead but in the end, she won by half a length with Practical Joke’s Banquerita in third and Uncle Mo’s Mandy Mo in fourth.
Racing for Vendaval, Guairaba is prepared by J. Silva and was bred by Haras Paso Nevado with three wins in three starts.
She is out of the winning Lookin At Lucky mare Gazania, who is a half-sister to Scat Daddy’s Horse of the Year Il Campione and American Pharoah’s stakes placed Drapes among the three stakes performers under her dam.
Worldwide, Practical Joke is the sire of 23 stakes winners and 43 stakes performers, led by 15 graded stakes winners with six of those winning Grade Is.
