Girl With a Dream Adds Churchill Allowance to Resume
Brad Cox-trained Girl With a Dream (2f Practical Joke x Henley, by Corinthian) has proven to be a talented racehorse and again showed that on Saturday with an Allowance victory at Churchill Downs.
Racing over six furlongs with red-hot jockey Joel Rosario aboard, the race favorite broke well before settling into the back of the field a few lengths behind the second-to-last horse. Rosario sat chilly as his mount circled the field in the turn and positioned herself in the middle of the track for the stretch run.
Only one horse was able to stick near her as she made her run with Girl With a Dream pulling away in the final furlong to win by half a length over that rival with the rest of the field over seven lengths back.
Girl With a Dream has two wins and a second from four career starts for Jim Bakke and Gerald Isbister.
Bred by Machmer Hall and D + J Racing Stable, the filly is out of the Corinthian mare Henley. That mare is the dam of three winners from four to race and is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and Grade I-place Mr. Commons and multiple stakes winner Jungle Fighter.
Practical Joke’s 17 winners have won a combine 23 races between them with the group including five stakes performers and three stakes winners to be among the top freshmen in every category.
