Huntingcoco 6 ¾ Length MSW Winner for Practical Joke
Huntingcoco (2f Practical Joke x Sulis, by Maria’s Mon) was an impressive debut winner for her sire on Sunday with a 6 ¾ length Maiden Special Weight win at Del Mar.
Stalking the pace in the 5 ½ furlong dirt race, she was challenged early for her own position before becoming the clear second in the race. As they hit the quarter pole, Huntingcoco started hitting her best stride and reached the leader by the time they entered the stretch.
She sailed on by to win by 6 ¾ lengths, still extending her lead with every stride at the end.
Racing for Villa Rosa Farm and Harlo Racing, the Bob Baffert trainee was a $200,000 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-Year-Olds In Training purchase by her racing owners earlier this year.
The filly was bred by Hnr Nothhaft Horse Racing and is the seventh winner from seven runners out of her winning dam. That dam is a half-sister to three stakes winners, including the dams of Grade I winner I’m The Tiger and Flaming Heart. Flaming Heart is the dam of Grade II winner Commissioner and the granddam of champion Vino Rosso.
Huntingcoco has a yearling Classic Empire colt who is going through the ring at Keeneland September as Hip 3263 from Small Batch Sales.
Huntingcoco is the 10th juvenile winner for Practical Joke in 2022 with the group including a stakes performer.
