Impressive New Stakes-Winner for Munnings
Undefeated filly Fancy Dress Party (3f Munnings x The Schvagen, by Matty G) made a sharp start to the New Year when cruising home to post her first Black Type win in the $75,000 Glitter Woman Stakes at Gulfstream on Saturday.
A winner at her only two starts last year, the Ben Colebrook trained filly was favourite for this six furlong sprint and gave nothing else a look in when accelerating away to win by five and three-quarter lengths on a sloppy surface.
“I think she might be a little better on a fast track, actually,” Ben Colebrook said. “She did it very impressively. He waited as long as he could and then when he unleashed her, man, she was very impressive. We’re just happy to get the stakes win. She got kind of a late start in her 2-year-old year. She didn’t get a break. It’s a long year and a lot of big races. I don’t know what we’ll do with her yet.”
A $280,000 Keeneland September purchase, Fancy Dress Party runs for LNJ Foxwoods and has already won over $132,000 in prizemoney.
She is a full sister to stakes-winner Will Munnings and is one of five winners from The Schvagen.
Fancy Dress Party is the 30th stakes-winner for Munnings, who stands at a fee of $20,000 in 2019.
