Impressive Stakes Win for Munnings Colt

A son of exciting young sire Munnings, Never Gone South (3c Munnings x Summer Rules, by Perfect Soul) looks set for a great year after scoring a resounding win in the $74,250 Frank Whiteley Stakes at Laurel on Saturday.

The Cathal Lynch trained colt was a stakes-winner last year and gave nothing else a chance when bolting away to win the seven furlong sprint by more than seven lengths in a thoroughly dominant display.

Never Gone South has three wins and two seconds from five starts with prizemoney topping $140,000.

A $90,000 purchase from the OBS April 2YO Sale last year, Never Gone South is the first winner for Summer Rules, a half-sister to Grade I winner Peace Rules and stakes-winner Wild Fashion.
