Kentucky Pharoah Gives Sire Saturday Juvenile Double
Kentucky Pharoah (2c American Pharoah x Strut The Course, by Strut The Stage) was the second juvenile winner of the day for American Pharoah on Saturday with a Maiden Special Weight victory at Gulfstream Park.
The Calumet Farm homebred took command early on in the one mile turf race and never looked back under Julien Leparoux. As they entered the stretch, Kentucky Pharoah picked up the pace to pull away under a few reminders from his jockey.
In the end, Kentucky Pharoah won by 3 3/4 lengths in his third career start.
Kentucky Pharaoh is the first foal out of Canada’s 2014 Champion Older Female Strut The Course. That mare is also a half-sister to the dam of stake-placed Bambarra Bay.
Kentucky Pharaoh was the second open lengths-winning juvenile of the day for American Pharoah with Lady Mercy winning by five lengths in Japan to kick off his Saturday.
