Klugman Back to Winner’s Circle for Practical Joke
Practical Joke’s stakes-placed Klugman (3c Practical Joke x Polyester, by Tiz Wonderful) was an impressive winner of a Gulfstream Park Allowance Optional Claimer on Friday by 3 ½ lengths.
The one-mile dirt race saw Klugman shoot to the lead and open up nearly two lengths on the field from the start. In the end, one rival tried to run him down but it was no use. Klugman had 3 ½ lengths in hand at the end with the third placed runner 8 ¾ lengths behind the winner.
Trained by Edward Plesa Jr. for Glassman Racing, Klugman has three wins in six starts with two other top three finishes for $108,860 in earnings.
The colt was bred in Florida by France Weiner, Irwin Weiner, Valery deMeric and Tristan deMeric and was a $140,000 OBS October yearling purchase by his racing owners
Klugman is a half-brother to the Grade III winning Harpers First Ride and out of a multiple stakes winning Sneaky Quiet. There are eight stakes winners under Klugman’s first two dams and 12 other stakes performers.
Practical Joke is the sire of 58 Northern Hemisphere foaled winners, 12 stakes performers, and six stakes winners, led by two graded stakes winners – putting him in the top four in each of those categories among his peers.
