Mares In Foal to Golden Pal On Offer at Keeneland January
A popular stallion in his first season at stud last year, two-time Breeders’ Cup winner Golden Pal sees eight in-foal mares scheduled to go through the ring at the Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale.
A half-sister to Grade I winner Twilight Eclipse carrying to Golden Pal on a February 25 cover sells as Hip 202 through the Denali Stud consignment.
A placed racemare, Winning Walk is one of six to race out of My Twilight Dancer with the mare’s four winners including multiple Grade III winner Grand Contender. My Twilight Dancer herself was a placed runner out of the stakes winning Shimmy. Shimmy didn’t produce a stakes winner herself but is the dam of five mares who either produced stakes performers or the dams of stakes performers.
A familiar visitor to the Ashford breeding shed, Youvegottopaytopla sells in-foal to Golden Pal on a March 27 cover as Hip 609 through Taylor Made Sales.
The foal she’s carrying is a three-quarter sibling to 3-year-old Uncle Pennybags, who sold for $210,000 at the 2022 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. The mare also has a 2-year-old from the first crop of four-time Grade I winner Tiz The Law and foaled a filly by American Pharoah last year.
A four-time winner herself, Youvegottopaytopla is one of three winners from four to race out of the stakes-placed Divalarious. That mare is a half-sister to multiple Group I winner Taipan, the Grade I winning duo of Ali-Royal and Sleeptytime, and multiple Grade II winner Oonagh Maccool with all of them out of the stakes winning Alidiva.
The Uncle Mo x Giant’s Causeway cross Youvegottopaytopla’s foal is bred on is the same as Uncle Mo’s Grade III winner Family Way and five other stakes performers.
All of Golden Pal’s in-foal mares are offered in Book 1 with Brittiz the final offering when sold as Hip 653.
Sold by Mulholland Springs, Brittiz placed in her only stakes run as a juvenile and retired last year in late March before visiting Golden Pal on April 11. Brittiz is one of three winners from three to race out of the stakes placed Spiteful Gypsy, who is one of three stakes performer out of the multiple stakes winning Leo’s Gypsy Dancer.
Every one of Brittiz’s dams on the page have produced at least one stakes performer with this dam Waterford Harbour also seeing multiple daughters and granddaughters do the same.
Two of Golden Pal’s Keeneland January offerings sell on Monday with the rest going through the ring on Tuesday.
