Monmouth MSW Trifecta For Practical Joke
It was a juvenile trifecta at Monmouth Park on Saturday for Practical Joke when Shidabhuti (2f Practical Joke x A.P. Candy, by Candy Ride) led home a clean sweep for her sire.
Shidabhuti was last early on in the six-furlong dirt race before passing a few horses to race off the pace. Sliding up the rail around the turn, she kept that spot into the stretch and collared the pacesetters with just under a furlong to go. Shidabhuti’s big strides made easy work of building a margin with a 6 ½ length victory over Spouty’s Girl with Three Carats in third.
Shidabhuti is trained by Chad Brown for Peter Brant, who bought her for $310,000 at Keeneland September last year. She was bred by Gabriel Duignan and Gary Dilger and is a half-sister to the stakes-placed Knox Court.
Their dam A P Candy is a half-sister to stakes winner Wind Fire and stakes-placed Bloodline and is a granddaughter of the multiple Grade I winner and top broodmare Dream Supreme.
Second crop sire Practical Joke is the sire of 62 winners in 2022, the best of his generation. Among those are three stakes winners and 11 stakes performers.
