Multiple G1 winner Practical Joke to stand at Coolmore America
Impressive Grade 1 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes winner Practical Joke will retire to Coolmore America’s Ashford Stud for the 2018 breeding season. The son of Into Mischief is unbeaten in his five starts around one turn - and in his three starts at Saratoga – and will likely make his next start in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile.
Trained by Chad Brown for Seth Klarman’s Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence, Practical Joke won his first three starts as a juvenile including the Grade 1 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga and the Grade 1 Champagne Stakes at Belmont Park. This season he also won the Grade 3 Dwyer Stakes and ran a fine race when beaten only half a length in the Grade 1 Haskell Invitational Stakes.
“He’s a very, very good-looking horse, he’s by one of the hottest sires in the country and he’s amongst the very best racehorses of his generation,” said Ashford Stud manager Dermot Ryan. “We’re absolutely delighted that he’s coming to stand here.”
