Munnings Colt Bounces Back
Talented colt Om (3c Munnings x Rare Cat, by Tabasco Cat) bounced back to his best form to score a dominant win at Santa Anita on the weekend.
Trained by Dan Hendricks, Om was a resounding winner at Del Mar last August leaving Kentucky Derby winner American Pharoah in his wake, but could finish only fifth when returning this year in the San Pedro Stakes at Santa Anita in April.
Om improved sharply for this one mile assignment on the turf, forging clear to win by two and a quarter lengths and has now won two of his four starts earning $82,500 in prizemoney.
A $60,000 Keeneland September Yearling, he fetched $125,000 when re-offered as a two year-old at the Barretts March Sale after breezing a furlong in a tick over 10 seconds.
A horse with obvious stakes potential for the future, Om is a half-brother to stakes-placed Bear Dixiecat from Rare Cat, a half-sister to Grade III winner Rare Rock.
