New Stakes-Winner for Munnings

Currently the leading US Second Crop Sire by earnings and winners, Munnings added a new stakes-winner to his tally when Gallery (3c Munnings x Little Theater, by Theatrical) scored a tenacious win in the $95,000 Manila Stakes at Belmont.

Trained by Michael Dini, Gallery took up the lead in the one mile feature on turf and repelled all challengers to secure his first Black Type victory by a nose.

"I got a really good trip,” said winning rider Jose Lezcano.

“He broke and in a four-horse field he did it himself. I felt very comfortable the whole way.”

A modest $30,000 purchase from the OBS April 2YO Sale, Gallery has three wins and four placings from 11 starts with prizemoney topping $135,000.

Gallery is the eighth stakes-winner for Munnings and is the best of three winners from Little Theater, a daughter of stakes-winner Chitka.
