Northern Echo Newest Winner for Echo Town
It was another winner for Echo Town this week when Northern Echo (2g Echo Town x I Got This, by Borrego) won on debut in Canada.
Making his start going five furlongs on the dirt, the juvenile broke inwards but quickly went to the lead a few strides later. Opening up around the turn, he had enough of a lead in the final furlong to hold off all challengers by 1 ½ lengths.
Bred by Donald Whalen and Track West Racing in Ontario, the colt is trained by Michael Nault for A2 Thoroughbreds.
This is the fifth winner from six to race out of the two-time winner I Got This. That mare is a full sister to Grade III-placed Basmati.
The family also includes Grade II winner and multiple Grade I-placed March Magic with stakes performers out of each of I Got This’s first four dams.
This is the third winner for Echo Town, who also saw son Three Echoes finish third in the Grade II Sanford Stakes on Saturday.
