Ocean Atlantique Newest TDN Rising Star For American Pharoah
Ocean Atlantique (2c American Pharoah x Tare Green, by Giant’s Causeway) already made headlines as the sale topper at the Arqana Breeze Up Sale earlier this year when bringing €1.1 million. On Wednesday, the colt was back in the spotlight when he became a TDN Rising Star by easily winning at Saint Cloud in France.
The 2-year-old went straight to the lead in the one-mile affair on turf where he galloped easily under jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot. He was never in any danger of losing the race, pulling away in the stretch and winning as he pleased by eight lengths for trainer Andre Fabre and Coolmore.
It was the second start for the American Pharoah son, who finished a promising second in his debut over this course and distance last month for the same connections.
Bred by Indian Creek, the colt was sold for $275,000 by that operation at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale to Grove Stud. He was then sold under the Grove Stud banner at the Arqana May 2-Year-Old Breeze-Up Sale to Broadhurst Agency for M.V. Magnier for €1.1 million.
Boasting a pedigree even stronger than his maiden-breaking performance, Ocean Atlantique is out of a half-sister to champion Leroidesanimaux and hails from the immediate family of the legendary Hasili.
Ocean Atlantique becomes the 16th winner for his sire, who sits atop the First-Crop sires rankings by winners, graded stakes winners, blacktype winners, and stakes horses.
